Mackay Zombie Charity Walk
In May 2021, Greater Whitsunday Communities were approached by Mackay Charity Zombie Walk to provide Auspice Support through grant administration so that they could apply for funding to host the first ever Mackay Charity Zombie Walk in 2021. Their vision of this event was that it will become an annual flagship event for the Mackay region and a “must-do” Halloween activity for all local families. This special public event was organised by a local group of supporters to raise important funds and awareness about Autism on behalf of Autism QLD Mackay.
With help from major businesses, organisations, and volunteers this event became a reality on the 30th of October 2021, with 500 people in attendance. 300 of which did the march through the main streets of Mackay and 200 additional people came to enjoy the 8 local food vendors and 4 entertainers provided on the night. It is fair to say that the event was very successful in their goal to raise funds and awareness of Autism in the Mackay community. Greater Whitsunday Communities are very proud of the social and economic benefits this partnership has provided to our community.
